Overseas
Internship
|

|
|
A
joint CLF and University of Auckland programme,
the NZ-Shanghai Jiaotong University Internship Programme
began on 27 April 2006. The first group of three
MA interns/trainee teachers taught in Auckland and
Rotorua schools during an eight week period. A workshop
was held on 20 June to share their teaching practices
and present their findings. The second group from
Shanghai Jiaotong University arrived on 12 July
for their eight-week programme. |

CLF
has held several professional development workshops
for Chinese language teachers for the development
of curriculum, teaching methods, classroom management
and other related subjects. |

Chinese
Language Teacher Network and Professional Development
|
|
|
|
|
|
CLF
convened a networking session on 12 March 2006 for
all Chinese language teachers in the Auckland region.
The afternoon tea session was a forum for the exchange
of ideas between CLF and the teachers to support
Chinese language teaching as a viable and rewarding
option in New Zealand.

has also facilitated the participation of Chinese
language teachers from Auckland, Christchurch
and Dunedin at the New Zealand Association of
Language Teachers' Biennial Conference on 3 July
2006.

Networking
Meetings with Principals |

CLF
has also been working actively with principals to
establish a network of school clusters so that a
pathway can be developed for feeder schools to work
with secondary schools in the area to provide viable
Chinese language programmes. |

The
CLF online email forum is kindly hosted by
the University of Auckland. There are currently
about 100 participants most of whom are Chinese
language teachers or heads of associations.
