up in May 2006, the Confucius Institute
is a partnership between the PRC Government
and the University to promote the
learning of Chinese in all New Zealand
schools, to provide professional development
to language educators, to build partnerships
at government and educational levels
in New Zealand and overseas, to promote
Chinese language and culture in the
business sector, and to provide a
resource centre for researchers, teachers
and students of Chinese. The Institute's
Director is Nora Yao.
