Raewyn
Ho is a secondary trained Chinese teacher
with seven years experience as Teacher in
Charge of Chinese at Rutherford College
in Auckland. She has built up a strong Chinese
programme at the school, set up a sister
school relationship with a school in Shanghai
and took several school trips to China including
a teachers tour. She was Head of Languages
for three years before moving to work at
Team Solutions, University of Auckland.
In
2006 and 2007 she worked part time as a
secondary literacy facilitator and also
worked closely with the Auckland/Northland
Language Facilitators to ensure there was
quality Chinese professional development
for teachers.
This
year Raewyn works for uniservices under
project coordinator Wendy Thomson to give
in class support to Year 7 and 8 teachers
who have enrolled on the Languages Professional
Development Programme to teach Chinese.
She took on a part time role in the Chinese
Language Foundation in 2005. Her responsibilities
are to maintain contact with and visit principals
and schools that currently offer or are
interested in starting a Chinese Language
Programme to promote, establish, develop
and support the programme and teachers in
schools. She coordinates school initiatives
and gives out up to date information to
Chinese teachers and schools in our schools
network, on recent developments and initiatives.
