The Chinese Language Foundation (CLF) is a charitable trust set up in 2004 to promote and support the study of Chinese in New Zealand schools.

The CLF Schools Network has over 40 member schools from all over the country.

In November 2007 CLF and the Confucius Institute in Auckland formed a joint venture to promote and develop Chinese language programmes in New Zealand Schools.

The joint aim is to grow, in the next five years, the number of students learning Chinese in New Zealand schools to 50, 000, the number of schools teaching Chinese from 70 to 120, and for the number of qualified teachers, teacher trainers and assistants to increase by 40%.
